eTakeoff Dimension's Database Files need to reside on individual computers that are not connected by a physical server.

However, the main project folder where the projects have their own sub-folder and pdf files can reside on a cloud drive (OneDrive, DropBox, etc) so that a user can backup and import project data between computers with access to the cloud drive.

To set up the interface,

  • Open the desired cloud drive
  • Create a folder named "eTakeoff Projects"
  • Create a sub-folder for each project
  • Download plans into the corresponding sub-folder
  • Create the project by following the procedure below.
    • Click on Home / New button
    • Navigate to the corresponding sub-folder on the cloud drive and selecting the folder
    • Click OK
    • Creating Projects Video

For computers that have access to the new cloud project folder, the user would navigate to the corresponding project folder on the cloud drive and restore a project to the designated computer by double clicking on the most recent AutoExport or Export file. Restore Project .

Note: When the user restores a project that already exist on a computer, Dimension creates another version of the project.

To set the cloud drive as the main project folder, click on the link below.
