Change Client/Server Password

If you have security concerns you can use the ctree utility “C:\Faircom\eTkoServer\ctadmn.exe” to change the CTree administrator’s password from the default (username ADMIN, default password ADMIN). Be sure to record that
change!
1. Open Task Manager and make sure “FairCom DB SQL Server” (faircom.exe) is running.
2. Make sure all users exit out of eTakeoff Dimension & Bridge.
3. Navigate to the C:\Faircom\eTkoServer folder
4. Right click on ctadmn.exe and click on “Run as Administrator”.
5. See below for answers to the prompts:

  • Enter Administrator User ID (and/or press RETURN) >> ADMIN
  • Enter Administrator Password (and/or press RETURN) >> ADMIN
  • Enter Optional File Password (and/or press RETURN) >> {press Enter}
  • Enter Optional Server Name (and/or press RETURN) >> ETKOSRVR

6. You will receive the following screen:


7. Enter 1 – User Operations
8. You will receive the next screen:


9. Enter 4 – Change User Password
10. See below for answers to the prompts:

  • Enter Administrator User ID (and/or press RETURN) >> ADMIN
  • Enter New User Password (and/or press RETURN) >> {Enter New Password}
  • Enter exact same new password (and/or press RETURN) >> {Enter New Password}

You should receive “Successful Password Change” if you entered the new password correctly.

11. You will need to update the client’s configuration files’ Server Password for Dimension & Bridge:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\eTakeoff\RView\ETkoCnfg.exe &
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\eTakeoff\eTakeoffBridge\eTakeoffBridgeConfig.exe
