eTakeoff Dimension Plan Viewer has stopped working

WARNING! This procedure requires editing the computer's Registry. Since the computer’s registry is so sensitive to all programs that run on the computer, we recommend that you have your system administrator or IT person follow the procedure.

 

When you click on the "eTakeoff Application" desktop shortcut and you receive the error message, "eTakeoff Dimension Plan Viewer has stopped working", it’s most likely due to the last project that was worked on has become corrupt. To resolve, 

  • Click on the Start key/Run/regedit
  • Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\eTakeoff\Dimension56\Preferences
  • Right click on LastProjID and select rename
  • Rename it to LastProjID-x
  • Close the Registry Editor

  • Double-click on eTakeoff Application icon

If you try to open the corrupt Project, the crash will most likely occur again. To resolve, you may want to delete the corrupt Project.

  • Click on File/Recent Projects to look up the corrupted project.
  • Delete the corrupted project using the Project List
  •  

    1. Click on the "View" Tab then click the "Project List" button
    2. Click on the "Sel" checkbox for the project you want to delete
    3. Click the "Do Selected" button and select "Delete Selected Projects"
